One more tab to check, on top of everything else
Bob already had a daily morning brief running through Claude and xTiles, covering his calendar, inbox, and tasks. What it didn't cover was news — the topics he actually follows for his consulting work, plus general interests like AI and startups, still meant a separate habit: a news app, or a handful of browser tabs opened out of routine rather than because any of them were actually useful that morning.
What the Today News workflow actually does
Today News reviews the last 24 hours of coverage on whatever topics matter to you, then adds the results as tiles directly on your daily page inside xTiles Planner — no separate news app to open, no feed to scroll through. It can also surface early rumors and leaks on a topic, for anyone who likes to see a story forming before it's confirmed.
Setting it up: no prompt-writing required
Rather than writing a custom prompt from scratch, xTiles maintains a shared workspace page listing ready-made workflows — Today News among them, alongside things like an evening reflection and a weekly review. It's linked from the chat icon in the bottom-right corner inside xTiles. Clicking Today News opens the correct prompt directly inside Claude; sending it as-is is enough to set the workflow up.
Telling it what you actually care about
The first time it runs, the workflow asks what topics matter to you specifically. Bob's own answer mixed business and consulting topics with general interests like AI and startup life — there's no single fixed feed everyone gets. Whatever you answer at that step is what shapes which tiles show up each morning going forward.
Where the news tiles actually show up
Once it's set up, the digest lands as tiles right on the daily page in Planner, alongside whatever else already lives there — tasks, calendar events, or an existing morning brief. It's reviewed in the same place as the rest of the day, rather than a separate destination to remember to check.
Turning it into a standing habit
Like any other Claude-powered workflow in xTiles, Today News can be turned into a recurring Scheduled Task, or moved into a cloud-based Routine so it refreshes automatically without needing your laptop open. The cloud routine setup guide covers exactly how to make that move for any of these workflows, not just a morning brief.
