From a finished course to a full academy, built entirely in xTiles
Lori is a business coach who had already finished writing her full course curriculum — teaching people how to set up their own businesses — and was in the process of turning it into a self-contained academy delivered entirely inside xTiles, rather than a separate course platform bolted on the side.
The setup is a single project acting as the course hub: an introduction page, a getting-started guide, guidelines for success, a media library, and a page for student notes and open questions. Everything a student needs to start the class lives in one place, built with the same tiles Lori already uses for her own work.
Tasks students create show up on their own planner automatically
Any task placed inside a course project, with a due date attached, shows up automatically on that student's own daily and weekly planner — no separate task app, no extra setup step to teach. It's the same behavior Lori relies on for her own work: tasks scattered across different projects still surface in one master list, so nothing gets forgotten just because it lives somewhere else.
Two ways to hand a course project to each student
For a class where students should work independently, publishing the whole project as a public template lets each student duplicate their own copy and use it however they want. Duplication can stay on while direct editing access to the original stays off, so students always get a clean starting copy without being able to touch Lori's master version.
For closer, one-on-one coaching relationships, there's a second option: invite each client into their own dedicated copy of the template project directly, one project per person. Updating that shared project later means the client sees the change too — a more collaborative setup than a one-time hand-off, useful when the coaching relationship continues past the initial course.
Bringing pages from different projects into one place
A page built inside one project — a getting-started guide, for example — doesn't need to be rebuilt from scratch to reuse elsewhere. The three-dot menu on any page includes a copy option; paste it into a different project and choose between a full, independent copy or a linked page that stays in sync with the original wherever it appears.
Using xTiles' built-in AI to generate a starting layout
For a new class or cohort, the built-in AI (the sparkling-stars icon in the bottom-right corner) can generate a starting layout from a plain-language prompt — something like "create a template for my xTiles Academy students." Choosing a new page or project keeps the result separate from existing work, rather than adding content directly onto the page you're already on.
Selecting a few existing tiles first (Cmd+A or Ctrl+A after clicking one) gives the AI style context to match, and the same prompt can be run more than once to generate a few different layout options before settling on one.
Tailoring the same planner for clients who need it, and letting students start for free
Lori also coaches clients who deal with time blindness, and she's been shaping a customized planner layout specifically for them — grouping tasks into priority buckets, then blocking out high-energy hours for focused work rather than leaving the day unstructured. It's a work in progress, built the same way as everything else here: inside a regular project, ready to be turned into its own template once it's dialed in.
None of this requires students to pay for anything just to take the class — the free plan covers working inside a duplicated course project. A paid plan only becomes relevant if a student wants features beyond what the course itself needs.
